Social media lingo is full of acronyms and abbreviations. I think people use more abbreviated words than full words when writing a status on one of the popular platforms. Whether it's BRB or OMG, acronyms are everywhere. So, that's why I think it’s the perfect opportunity to talk about social during the "Spell it Out Week" on our blog.

​Using the letters in SOCIAL, I’ll list a few tips for your social media strategy. Whether it's what you should be posting, how to craft your messaging or a dive into the world of paid social media.
 
  • Stay authentic. Authenticity is one of the most important aspects of a social media presence. If you present yourself without gimmicks or tricks, you’ll build lasting relationships with your clients that benefit your company for years to come.
 
  • Optimize your content. Share content on your business platforms that will resonate with your audience. Be sure to include information that is useful and valuable to position yourself as a trusted resource.
 
  • Call prospects to action! Like any other email, direct mail, print advertisement and so forth, your social media posts and campaigns need to include a call to action. They let your prospects know what to do next and how to get in touch with you. Want them to contact a sales rep? Fill out a form to collect email? Download your sales guide? Include a call to action.
 
  • Interact with followers. One of the most important and useful strategies is posting interactive content on your social media. And when you do this, engage with your followers! This will let them know you really care, want to connect and help solve their problems. It will also build a lasting relationship and shine a light on your brand.
 
  • Analyze results. Did you run a month-long social campaign? What was the reach, impression, frequency, etc.? Always analyze the results so you can make informed decisions on how to move forward and evaluate if your campaigned reached its goals. This goes for organic posts, too. Pay attention to the analytics so you're always improving your strategy.
 
  • Listen, listen, listen. What are your customers saying about your brand online? Are they giving you praise? Expressing concerns? Asking questions? It's important to listen to your customers in person AND online so you're covering all your bases and giving the best experience possible. Once you listen to your customers, you can alter your content strategy to be specific to their needs, making a more personalized and relevant experience.
