Tips for Building a Perfect Email Campaign

Even before the time of social distancing, email marketing has been one of the most effective methods for reaching a target audience. However, not all email marketing is created equal. There are best practices to adhere to when creating your email campaign to make sure your message gets heard. Below are some tips for crafting the perfect email and subject line to increase your opens and click-thru rate.

  1. Know and clearly define your audience. Targeting is one of the most important aspects of an effective campaign. Once you know who you’re speaking to, you can tailor your messaging to resonate with that demographic.
  2. Create a visually appealing design. Use clear images, easy-to-read fonts and an eye-catching layout.
  3. Make sure your call to action (CTA) is straightforward. Your audience should know within eight seconds what action you want them to take. Consider using a brightly colored button. Don’t overcrowd your design with too many links because your CTA may get lost in the shuffle.
  4. Make it personal! If you can, use the recipient’s first name in the opening of the email. Incorporate content that will resonate specifically with your audience.
  5. The subject line is king. The content of your email may be perfect, but it won’t matter if no one opens it! Create a subject line that’s easy to understand, non-deceptive and clever. Avoid spam words and excessive punctuation.
  6. Test it on all devices. Before sending, make sure your email appears correctly on phones, tablets, laptops and desktops.
  7. Connect to social. Incorporate social icons that link to your business’ social pages so recipients can engage with your brand outside of the email.
